YMCA and T2 Aquatics Partner to Develop Premier Age Group Swim Team in Southwest Florida

( Naples , FL , May 5, 2010 ) – Paul Yetter, who worked at North Baltimore Aquatic Club since 2001, was an assistant coach with the 2008 U.S. women's Olympic team, and most recently an assistant coach with the Auburn swimming and diving program, will be the head coach for competitive aquatics programs offered by T2 Aquatics at the YMCA Norris Aquatic Center starting May 10th

"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to coach for T2 Aquatics and the YMCA.  From a competitive perspective, I anticipate a great experience working with our staff, swimmers, and parents, who share a common goal of building a nationally recognized swimming program.  From a business perspective, I am excited to grow our brand of service into a comprehensive swimming program with a highly competitive swim team, as well as professionally taught learn-to-swim opportunities for families in Southwest Florida ," says Yetter.

The YMCA of the Palms and T2 Aquatics share a unique partnership to operate and manage the YMCA Norris Aquatic Center , an outdoor, 50-meter competitive swimming facility in North Naples .  T2 Aquatics manages the competitive swim programs and oversees daily operations at the facility, building on the foundation of swim lessons offered through the YMCA, and providing the necessary resources and expertise to elevate the aquatic programs to a new level.

Long-time YMCA volunteer Kevin Erndl is the managing partner for T2 Aquatics, a company he formed in 2009 to both  supplement the efforts of the YMCA and to also develop a new business model for competitive swimming.  According to Erndl, “My goal is to continue developing a top age group swim team in the USA -- by offering world class coaching for swimmers, quality education for parents, and appropriate support to the community.  Paul Yetter is a great addition to our coaching team.  He is a world-class, world-renowned coach.”

According to Monica Leatherman, Branch Director for the Greater Naples YMCA, "We are thrilled to have Paul providing direction for the YMCA’s competitive aquatic programs.  The original vision for the YMCA Norris Aquatic Center was for it to be a premier training facility for young swimmers in our community, where they could improve their skills and thereby earn athletic scholarships for college.  While we’ve already had great success in meeting this vision, Paul’s addition to our team will undoubtedly enhance our success.”

At the North Baltimore Athletic Club (NBAC), Yetter coached Katie Hoff, who during the 2007-08 season set 11 American records in nine different events and won three Olympic medals before switching to Bob Bowman, Michael Phelps' coach, after the Games. Yetter was an assistant at NBAC under Bowman before becoming the lead coach at the club's Harford County site from 2002 to 2004. Since 2004, Yetter has served as the club's senior elite coach. Before joining NBAC, Yetter was head coach at Bel Air Aquatic Club.
